SOME OF OUR FAVORITE SITES

BETTER THAN A VIDEO GAME is playing around with the Random Stripe Generator at  www.kissyourshadow.com.  This colorful virtual toy lets you chose from dozens of colors and then turns them into wonderful striping patterns that you can use in planning your knit and crochet projects.  It’s great for choosing afghan color combinations, or even quilts worked in stripes.

COLOR, COLOR EVERYWHERE!  Pantone, the group that sets the color trends, has announced the “in”fashion colors for Spring, 2008.  A major neutral is Snorkel Blue, which seems to be color-speak for good old navy brightened a bit with a touch of cobalt. Look for brighter reds, and lots of accessories in freesia (that’s yellow if you are not botanically inclined). Silvery grey continues the metallic theme from last year, and cantaloupe (the peachy inside color, not the beigy rind) will be big.  If you want to see these, plus over 20 pages of sketches of designer outfits with color ideas, go to  www.pantone.com/spring2008.

WANT TO MAKE GREAT QUILTS, QUICKLY AND EASY….Marti Michell, who has been involved in the quilting industry for over 35 years, can show you some easy methods, neat cutting and sewing tips using her “Perfect Patchwork Templates” and her rulers. You’ll want to make many trips to  www.frommarti.com.

To help you spoil your own cats, we included a special kitty rug in our new Leisure Arts book Afghans for All Seasons and All reasons. The rug, designed by Carole Fitzgeral, is round and features tassels for kitty to play with.  (For more on this book, click on the title)
