Instructions:
Square (make 48)
With Color A, ch 5, join with sl st to form a ring.
Rnd 1: Ch 3 (counts as a dc), 2 dc in ring; (ch 2, 3 dc in ring) 3 times; ch 2, join with a sl st in 3rd ch of beg ch-3; sl st in next 2 dc and into ch-2 sp.
Rnd 2: Ch 5 (counts as a dc and ch-2 sp), (dc, ch 2, V-St) in same ch-2 sp (first corner made); *in next ch-2 sp work (V-st, ch 2, V-st), (next corner made); rep from * once more, (V-st, ch 2, V-st) in next sp (last corner made), sl st in 3rd ch of beg ch-5; sl st into next ch-2 sp.
Rnd 3: Ch 3, 2 dc in same sp; *ch 1, skip V-st, 3 dc in next sp (betweenV-sts), ch 1, (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc) in next corner ch-2 sp; rep from * around, ending with 3 dc, ch 2, join with sl st to beg ch-3: 12, 3-dc groups made; finish off Color A.
Rnd 4: Join Color B with sl st in any corner sp; (ch 3, dc, ch 2, 2 dc) all in same sp; *dc in next 3 dc; (tr in ch-2 sp of V-st one row below, dc in each of next 3 dc) twice; (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc) in next corner sp; rep from * twice; dc in next 3 dc, (tr in ch-2 sp of V-st one row below, dc in each of next 3 dc) twice, join in top of beg ch-3.
Rnd 5: Sl st to corner sp, (ch 5, dc, ch 2, V-st) in same corner sp; *(sk 3 dc, V-st in next dc) 3 times, sk 3 dc; in next corner sp work (V-st, ch 2, V-st), rep from * twice; (sk 3 dc, V-st in next dc) 3 times, sk 3 dc, join with sl st in 3rd ch of beg ch-5; sl st to next sp.
Rnd 6: Ch 4 (counts as dc plus ch-1), skip next V-st; *in next corner sp work (3 dc, ch 2, 3 dc); ch 1, (skip next V-st, 3 dc in next sp between V-sts, ch 1) 4 times, rep from * twice, ending with 2 dc in last sp, join with sl st to 3rd ch of beg ch-4; finish off Color B.
Rnd 7: Join Color C in any ch-2 corner sp; (ch 3, dc, ch 2, 2 dc) all in same sp; *dc in next 3 dc; (tr in ch-2 sp of V-st one row below, dc in each of next dc) 5 times; (2 dc, ch 2, 2 dc; in next corner sp; rep from * twice, dc in next 3 dc; (tr in next ch-2 sp of V-st one row below, dc in each of next 3 dc) 5 times, join in top of beg ch-3.
Rnd 8: Sl st in next dc, 3 sc in ch-2 sp; sc in each st around, working 3 sc in each rem corner sp; finish off, weave in ends.
Joining
To join, hold two squares with right sides tog and with Color C, sew with overcast st
along one side, carefully matching sts and corners. Continue joining into 8 rows of 6 squares each.
Border
Rnd 1: With right side facing, join Color A with a sl st in upper right corner; ch 1, 3 sc in same st; work one rnd sc around entire outer edge, adjusting sts as needed to keep work flat, and working 3 sc in each outer corner st; join, finish off Color A.
Rnd 2: With right side facing, join color B in center sc of any 3-sc corner group; (ch 3, 2 dc, ch 3, 3 dc) all in same sc; *dc in each sc to next 3-sc corner group, work
(3 dc, ch 3, 3 dc) in same sc; rep from * twice, dc in each rem sc, join to 3rd ch of beg ch-3; finish off Color B.
Rnd 3: With right side facing, join Color C in ch-3 sp of any corner group; ch 1,
3 sc in same sp; *sc in each dc to next corner sp, 3 sc in ch-3 sp; rep from * twice, sc in each rem dc; join, finish off. Weave in ends.
