Medium weight yarn
5 oz red (A)
5 oz white (B)

Size 7 (4.5 mm) knitting needles (or size required for gauge)
Gauge:
10 sts = 3” in garter st
Stitch Guide:
K1B: Knit 1 st in row below.
Scarf:
With A, CO 35 sts.
Row 1: With A, knit.
Row 2: With A, knit. Attach B.
Row 3 (right side ): With B, K3, *K1B, K1; rep from * to last 2 sts, K2.
Row 4 (wrong side): Knit.
Row 5: With A, K2, K1B, *K1, K1B; rep from * to last 2 sts, K2.
Row 6: Knit.
Rep Rows 3 through 6 until piece measures 54” from CO row, ending by working Row 6. Knit one row. BO. Weave in all ends.
Hat:
With A, CO 62 sts.
Rows 1 and 2: With A, knit.
Row 3 (right side ): With A, *K1, K1B; rep from * to last 2 sts, K2.
Row 4 (wrong side): Knit. Attach B.
Row 5: With B, K2, *K1B, K1; rep from * across.
Row 6: Knit.
Rep Rows 3 through 6 until piece measures 6” from CO row, ending with Row 6. Cut B.
Shape Crown
Note: Work with A only for crown.
Rows 1, 2 and 3: Knit.
Row 4: K3, *K6, K2tog; rep from * to last 3 sts, K3: 55 sts
Row 5 and all odd rows: Knit.
Row 6: K3, *K5, K2tog; rep from * to last 3 sts, K3: 48 sts.
Row 8: *K4, K2tog; rep from * across: 40 sts
Row 10: *K3, K2tog; rep from * across: 32 sts.
Row 12: *K2, K2tog; rep from * across: 24 sts.
Row 14: *K1, K2tog; rep from * across: 16 sts.
Row 15: Knit.
Cut yarn, leaving a long tail. Weave yarn through rem 16 sts and pull up tightly to secure. Join back seam. Weave in all yarn ends.
